Worldwide Spies Paint Jobs Guide

Paint jobs arrived in Worldwide Spies with the Leap Forward update on 31 May 2025. That patch also redesigned GUIs, surfaced race placements, and added more fan-favorite racers. Team Chrome HQ shipped paints because the roster was already 25-plus characters and players still wanted more Lightning, more Francesco, more WGP chrome without waiting on a full new model every time. Alpha development likes that split: a new racer is a body, a paint is a coat. Mixing those words is how people think they “do not own McQueen” when they actually do not own a holiday color.

What a paint job is

A paint job is a livery on a racer you already can select. Same width, same turbo bind, same voice line set unless the update says otherwise. You are not unlocking a second Francesco with secret stats. You are putting a different coat on the Francesco you race in Porto Corsa. Collections group those coats so the redesigned GUI is not an infinite unlabeled grid.

Apply paints in the character flow after Leap Forward’s GUI pass. If you cannot find the menu, you may be on a server that has not refreshed; rejoin. Keyboard, console, and mobile all use the same garage, just with different cursors. Haptics in the Roblox menu have nothing to do with paints.

Collections versus a single color

Collections are folders. A World Grand Prix-themed set might sit next to a Radiator Springs set. Completing a collection is a completionist task, not a hidden skill tree. There is no evidence that filling a collection adds horsepower. Treat it like badge hunting: satisfying, optional, and a bad reason to ignore New Agent Training on a new account.

If a collection includes a color you have never seen, it is probably event-timed or still alpha-gated. Check the Updates Hub before you assume your account is broken. Codes, when they exist, land on the Promo Codes Hub. Do not buy “paint codes” in chat.

Event paints and event skins

Limited looks split into two neighbor buckets that the UI can make blurry:

• Event paints sit on a character you already own. When the event ends, that coat may leave until it returns.
• Limited event skins such as All-American McQueen and Star and Stripe Rod Redline behave like themed bodies with their own selector entries. They have appeared on a calendar (including a Stars-and-Stripes window in early July) and then gone.

If All-American is missing, your group join did not fail. Rookie McQueen is the group car. All-American is an event. Star and Stripe Rod Redline is not the same as owning Rod Redline in a default spy coat. Read the full name in the selector. How paints differ from new characters

New characters still arrive because the project wants the comprehensive Cars grid, including faces who barely had screen time. Paints exist so that grid can wear Tokyo chrome or Piston Cup heritage without a second model. When a patch says “fan favorite characters” and “paint jobs” in the same sentence, those are two bullets, not one.

Rookie McQueen remains a group unlock, not a paint. You cannot tint a default Lightning into Rookie and skip Team Chrome HQ. Join the group; then paint whatever you like. See Team Chrome Rewards.

Using paints without throwing races

Bright liveries help you spot your car in a 20-player pack. That is the one competitive argument for caring. A dark forest green on Black Forest looks gorgeous in screenshots and disappears in trees. A loud WGP red is easier to track on Tokyo streets when you glance at a replay or a friend’s spectate. Pick visibility for serious placement sessions after Leap Forward made finishes more obvious. Pick lore coats for cruises on Radiator Springs.

Do not change paint mid-practice loop if you are still learning camera. Your eye is calibrated to a color. Swap after the session. The Tokyo WGP clip on this page is a reminder that the street maps are already busy; your job is to stay readable to yourself.

Practical order

1. Own the racer. Group, default, or event skin first.
2. Finish training so you can drive that racer.
3. Apply a collection color you can actually see on the Maps and Track Guide you plan to vote.
4. Chase event paints only while the event is live.
5. After the flag, screenshot. During the race, watch apexes, not your own hood decal.

Worldwide Spies will keep adding coats while it stays alpha. The Leap Forward patch was the system coming online, not the last livery.
