Getting Started in Worldwide Spies
A first-hour plan: group join, training, starter racer, Radiator Springs, turbo, and codes.
Worldwide Spies is a free Roblox racer you can open today. Team Chrome HQ has kept it in a public alpha since 25 April 2021, so the garage and maps still grow, but the loop is already complete: pick a character, join a 20-player server, and either race or cruise. This page is the first hour only. If you already have New Agent Clearance and Rookie McQueen, skip to How to Win Races or the Maps and Track Guide.
The experience is not affiliated with Disney or Pixar. Treat it as a fan-made racer with voice lines, turbo, analog steering, and paint jobs, not as an official Cars sequel. That disclaimer lives in the in-game credits; you do not need it to drive, but you should know why some faces or tracks look unfinished.
Minute zero: Roblox account and the game page
You need a Roblox account. Open Worldwide Spies from the Roblox website or the app, hit Play, and wait for the character select. Before you mash a racer, like the experience and join the Team Chrome HQ group. The like is the cheapest support the developers ask for. The group join is the unlock that actually changes your garage: Rookie McQueen, the classic Lightning look a lot of players hunt for. Do not spend Robux on day one. The racer is free, the maps are free, and limited event skins rotate on their own calendar. Your first advantage is training, not a paid pass.
New Agent Training before the open world
The tutorial is labeled New Agent Training. Play it. Union Jack Finn and Racer Holley ride with you through the first training level. Completing that race awards New Agent Clearance, a badge that sits near 3% rarity because most players skip the course and jump Radiator Springs. The badge does not make you faster. It proves you finished the onboarding the game actually shipped. A longer walkthrough lives on New Agent Training. You will also pick up the New Agent welcome badge and Alpha Player just by joining during the current alpha; those two are freebies, Clearance is the one you earn.
Stay in the tutorial until you can hold a line through a medium corner without tapping the wall. If you cannot do that here, Tokyo and London will spit you into scenery.
Pick a starter racer and ignore the full garage
The live roster is 25-plus characters: Lightning McQueen, Mater, Finn, Francesco Bernoulli, and a mix of World Grand Prix and Piston Cup faces. You do not need the “best” car in hour one. Pick a racer you can read at a glance. Lightning or Francesco is enough. Rookie McQueen is the group bonus, not a stat monster. Paint jobs and event skins (All-American McQueen, Star and Stripe Rod Redline) are cosmetics. They will not teach you a racing line. Browse the Players Hub later; for now, commit to one body so your camera and hitbox stay consistent.
Radiator Springs as your first real map
After training, queue Radiator Springs. It is the hometown cruise: wide enough to recover, detailed enough that you will want to poke Flo’s, the courthouse, and the mountain road, and still a proper race when a lobby votes for it. Do one explore lap with no turbo so you learn where the walls live. Do a second lap where you only use turbo on the straights. Do a third where you tap handbrake on the tightest right. That three-lap drill is the entire skill floor for the rest of the game.
Leave Motor Speedway of the South, Los Angeles International Speedway, and Smasherville for when you want ovals. Leave Tokyo, Porto Corsa, London, and Black Forest for when you can rotate the camera without thinking. Paris, France has been previewed and is in development; it is not a first-hour destination.
Turbo, handbrake, and the control sheet
On PC, WASD moves, Shift is turbo, Space is handbrake, C cycles camera, and L toggles lights. Console uses the stick, X for turbo, B for handbrake, L1 for camera, R1 for lights. Mobile splits steering onto the handlebar, with separate accelerator, brake, handbrake icon, and turbo can. A controller with analog steering is the recommendation once you leave the tutorial, even if you started on a laptop keyboard. - Turbo is a timed burst, not a hold-forever button. Dumping it in a corner is how you meet a fountain.
- Handbrake is for rotation, not panic stopping. Tap it to swing the rear, then get back on throttle.
If touch rumble or controller shake is ruining your inputs, open the Roblox menu and flip Haptics off. That toggle is platform-level, not a hidden in-game setting.
Codes, placements, and what “done” looks like for hour one
Before you grind, open the Promo Codes Hub and redeem whatever is still live. Codes expire; training does not. After Leap Forward (31 May 2025) the game tracks race placements more clearly, and the anniversary patch added VS wins plus a global leaderboard. You do not need to hunt those boards tonight. You need five clean laps without spinning.
You are done with the first hour when all of this is true:
- Team Chrome HQ is joined and Rookie McQueen is in the garage.
- New Agent Training is finished and New Agent Clearance is on the account.
- You can name turbo and handbrake on your device without looking them up.
- You have driven Radiator Springs at least once as a race and once as a cruise.

If a lobby is full of veterans on Black Forest, leave and make your own pace on Radiator Springs or RS Speedway. Alpha servers are mixed skill. Your job in hour one is not a podium. It is leaving with a racer, a badge, and a control scheme you can repeat tomorrow.
